David Jones

Dave has a combined playing and teaching experience of twenty one years, and currently teaches private tuition in and around Leeds, UK, at Music Nation, Skipton Girls' High School, Artforms and Stage Door, as well as touring both nationally and internationally as a drum tech and musician. He was part of the band Humanfly for thirteen years, releasing four critically acclaimed albums and one live album, as well as touring around the UK & Europe and recording at the BBC's Maida Vale Studios with engineer Miti Adhikari (Nirvana, James Blake, Radiohead) for Radio 1.

In 2013 he graduated from Leeds College of Music where he studied and performed with John Newman and received a first class honours degree. He is part of the Subliminal Collective, performing live, improvised music in the city. In 2016 Dave also spent three weeks studying calabash in Senegal, West Africa, and also performed there with an ensemble.

In addition to teaching and playing, Dave is also the drum tech for the band Pulled Apart by Horses (Transgressive/Sony), who he has toured with at various points over the past three years, working on the main stages at the Leeds & Reading Festivals, Leeds Arena as well as working on other festival stages and touring with The Wytches. He has worked on sessions at Xfm Leicester Square and at the BBC’s Maida Vale Studios in London with the band and is also a drum tech for Leeds College of Music, servicing, tuning and maintaining over 35 kits within the college. Dave also spent three years project leading a music session for young people with learning difficulties in Leeds and has six years of experience working with children with Autism and Aspergers.
